Poetry Festival

I can hardly believe it. I'm such a geek!
Two blog posts in less than a week.

Yesterday we had a whale of a time
Performing in a festival of rhyme.
The affair was for "Zoo'etry"
Where E & A read poems from mem-ory.

"There Was An Old Woman" was April's choice.
She brought down the house with her cute little voice.
She wiggled and jiggled and opened her throat
While her big sister, Emma, shared a poem she had wrote.

They each got some prizes - they raved they were cool.
They have lots of fun when they hang with their school.

Emma's verse we give you for free.
Inspired by a story from Granny Bee.

The Dishes in the Sink

It was my turn to wash the dishes again,
and Daisy’s turn to dry.
I couldn’t understand it when
the pile was still so high!
I washed and washed and washed some more
but still it multiplied!
I wondered why the stacks just grew -
To one hundred and twenty two!
Were fairies coming through the door,
leaving dishes at my side?
Were monkeys swinging through the trees,
tossing plates at my knees?
Then out of the corner of my eye
I saw the person! “Oh my!”
Not a fairy or a monkey
but my little sister Daisy.
She thought she’d play a little trick.
Boy she was so slick!
Putting dishes back in the stack,
She almost gave me a heart attack!

Girl Scout Camp

To "Never the Same Weekend" we did go -
To play in the lodge and sport in the snow.

Trefoil Ranch is one happening place.
Can't you tell by the smiles on our face?
Snowshoeing, games and tag in the rain.
It was loads of fun all be it insane. :)
Making homemade paper that at first looked like puke
Singing, dancing, never sleeping - what a kook!

Crafts and kapers - we did 'em - no complaining.
The times we shared were quite entertaining!
There was plenty of food and our counselors were great.
Until the next time - we can hardly wait

When she saw her own daughter mop the floor with a smile,
She turned upside down and passed out in a pile.

Digging through owl pellets is fun
Especially if you make a new friend when you're done.
Meet Flo - our newest friend and vole.
From the ins of the owl pellet we rescued her soul.

Make new friends but keep the old
One is warm and the other is cold.

Crafting is fun with the right attitude.
But smile girl - you look like a dude!

Remembrance Day

One of us just turned 18 .... again.
Admitting her real age, we're told, is a sin.
Since her pics as a kid are cuter....
Here's some we scanned to our computer.

Here is the rhyme April penned on this card
What a treasure she is, our aspiring bard!

"Roses are red...The sea is blue.
I like the sea but I love you!
Your are so so so nice
Like when we roll a dice."

We're guessing this was one of her birthday wishes....
That someone else would do the dishes.

How sweet.... her "real" age in sprinkles.
Now you know why she's got all those wrinkles! :)
